Introduction

What trend is, who it's for, and the core loop you'll use every day.

trend is a drag-and-drop BI tool that gets out of your way. Connect a warehouse, write SQL once, drag charts onto a canvas, share with your team or your customers. That’s the whole product.

These docs assume you’ve already signed up — head to trend.dev if you haven’t.

Who trend is for

Analysts, engineers, and operators who think in SQL but don’t want their BI tool to think for them. If you want a semantic-layer-and-modeling platform, trend isn’t it. If you want a fast, opinionated dashboard tool that takes ten minutes to learn and an afternoon to ship the first dashboard, you’re in the right place.

The core loop

  1. Connect a database — Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake, or BigQuery. Read-only credentials.
  2. Write SQL — save it as a dataset. Add templated parameters for filters.
  3. Build dashboards — drag charts, KPIs, and controls onto a 12-column canvas.
  4. Publish + share — viewers see the published version. Editors keep iterating on the draft.

The rest of these docs walk you through each step.
