Quickstart

From signup to your first published dashboard in under 15 minutes.

This quickstart takes you end-to-end: sign up, connect a database, write a dataset, build a one-chart dashboard, and publish it. Total time: ~15 minutes.

1. Sign up and create a workspace

Visit trend.dev and click Start free trial. After confirming your email and entering a payment method (14-day trial, cancel anytime), you’ll land on the Create workspace step. Name your workspace anything memorable — you can rename it later.

2. Connect a warehouse

From the workspace home, click Connections → New connection. Pick your warehouse type and enter the credentials. We recommend creating a dedicated read-only role; see the connection docs for the SQL.

When you click Test connection, trend probes the credentials and shows a green Read-only verified badge if it’s a SELECT-only account.

3. Write your first dataset

Click Datasets → New dataset. Pick the connection you just added, then write SQL in the editor. For example:

SELECT
  date_trunc('week', created_at) AS week,
  count(*) AS signups
FROM users
GROUP BY 1
ORDER BY 1

Click Preview to run it. Click Save to keep it as a workspace-scoped dataset.

4. Build a dashboard

Dashboards → New dashboard. Drag a Line chart onto the canvas, click it, and bind it to the dataset you just created. Pick week as the X axis and signups as the Y axis. Configure the format if you want.

5. Publish

Click Publish in the top-right. Now anyone in your workspace can view the dashboard at its URL.

That’s the loop. Repeat for every dashboard you build.
